Engquist Tractor is not able to produce more products
Engquist Tractor is not able to produce more products, which is the
reason the scale of client decreased. Due to the continual growth
of the company, will need the expansion in order to accommodate the
increased need of business.
A state law was put into effect to automatically exempt equipment
purchased after 1stJuly. Unfortunately, Engquist purchased a new machine
prior to that date. If he would have known about the law and waited
to buy the machine, he would not have had to make the tax exemption
request.
Engquist said there is still a need for more buildings. Most of
his staff has worked for him for 10-12 years. It's a safe environment
with modern equipment.
Marvin Peters, Executive Director of McPherson Industrial Development,
read a letter from the MIDC Board at the Oct. 3 meeting. The letter
stated that the board reviewed a presentation on a complete industrial
expansion.
Board members were requested to assist Engquist's company in seeking
property tax exemption on construction and equipment included in
the process. The program met the standards of the constitution requirements
of Kansas and criteria included in the McPherson County Resolution
04-14 and is to be considered for property tax exemption.
The board requested a time and date to be set for a public hearing.
MIDC will detail the findings with the state at the public hearing.
A meeting between the Board of County Commissioners and Engquist
was set for 10:10 a.m. on Oct. 31, to further discuss the proposal.
